Thunderstorms Likely Coming To Clear Lake On Saturday

The National Weather Service Houston is forecasting a marginal chance of severe weather as storms sweep through Clear Lake.

CLEAR LAKE, TX — Last weekend brought the cold, and this weekend could bring storms.

A warm front will move through the Houston area Saturday, ushering in showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service Houston is forecasting thunderstorms to move through Clear Lake on Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

There is marginal risk for severe weather with the main threat coming from possible weak tornadoes along with locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds, according to NWS Houston. The main area of concern will be south of Interstate 10, but isolated strong storms will be possible across the Houston metro.

Around 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected with higher amounts possible in certain areas as rain totals likely will vary greatly across the Houston metro. Significant flooding is not expected, but ponding in poor drainage areas is possible, according to NWS.

Scattered thunderstorms and showers are forecasted to continue into Sunday. The chance for precipitation in Clear Lake is 92 percent on Saturday and 95 percent on Sunday, according to Accuweather.
