Police ID Man Killed In Construction Accident
Felipe Marentes, 50 of Kyle, was killed when a piece of metal that was being lifted inside the water tank, fell on him and another crewman.

PORTER, TX -- A man who was killed when working on the construction of a 500,000 gallon water tower on Friday has been positively identified.
Felipe Marentes, 50 of Kyle, was killed and and another man was injured when a piece of metal that was being lifted inside the water tank, fell on them.

The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m., whe construction personnel heard loud clanging inside the tank.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at Water Well Road and Loop 494 at about 7:20 a.m. for a high angle rescue, and rescued two of the crew who were uninjured, and one injured man.
Marentes died at the scene and remained on the scene during the investigation, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.
