2 Killed In Motorcycle-Car Crash In Leander
According to reports, one of those killed in the early morning hit-and-run crash at 183.
LEANDER, TX — Two motorcycle riders — including a Burnet High School student — were killed early Wednesday in a Leander hit-and-run collision, officials confirmed.
Police said a 21-year-old Hutto man is suspected in the crash, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Police via Twitter just before 10 a.m. alerted residents to the crash that occurred at U.S. 183 and Toll Road 183A.
“It is with heavy hearts that the Burnet High School family mourns the loss of one of our students involved in the hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning in Leander,” Burnet High Principal Casey Burkhart said in a prepared statement as reported by the Statesman.“Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the families and friends affected by this tragedy.”

The principal said grief counselors would be made available in offering emotional support to staff members and students of the high school.

Police plan to close the roadway on Thursday at around 2 p.m. to continue their investigation into the crash. Officials advised motorists to plan their routes accordingly to accommodate a police investigation that was thwarted Wednesday due to heavy rainfall.
