Actor Jason Kyle Johnson, is a former professional Motocross Racer who competed in the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series for close to ten years. After retiring at a young age from his professional racing days, Johnson decided to pursue a career as a professional actor. Johnson’s latest projects include Walker, The Secret Life of Amy Benson, as well as a forthcoming role in an inspiring feature film titled, Remember When, slated for production in late summer of 2023.

Jason Johnson grew up in Dripping Springs, Texas, a town known as “the gateway to the hill country,” states Johnson, because once you drive through town, the landscape starts to change into gorgeous rolling hills and beautiful scenery.” Continuing, “the best thing for me about growing up in Dripping Springs is that there was always something to do outdoors - I carried that love of the outdoors to adulthood. While growing up, horses seemed to be about half of the population in Dripping Springs, which was great. It was always a normal thing to be around horses.”

Continuing,
“I have been riding horses since I was a little kid and still enjoy it to this day. Growing up, having the city of Austin nearby was great because the city offered things our small town didn't at the time. As many know, the city slogan is “Keep Austin Weird” and they definitely stick to that, residents are from all walks of life and many different backgrounds. I think Matthew McConaughey said it best, paraphrasing McConaughey, “The great thing about Austin is that it's a place where nobody's too good and nobody's good enough, we are a communal city.”

Jason Johnson's career move to become an actor has been very promising due to his natural talent, “applying the same drive and determination to his acting career that he did pursuing his childhood dream to succeed in motocross,” states Johnson. Johnson first made his debut in acting after being cast on the TV Series Walker as a background actor. Johnson portrays a Texas Ranger who worked with Cordell Walker (Actor, Jared Padalecki). Johnson was promoted on set from a role as a background actor to a featured background role after working on Walker for a couple of weeks. Johnson discussed this role as being very instrumental in his career. Stating in a recent interview, “I learned a lot on the set of Walker! I learned more about how a set works and what is expected of an actor in the first week of working on Walker than I did in months of acting classes, although I still believe that the acting classes were beneficial as well, of course, to prepare me for this opportunity, and for additional opportunities in the future. Continuing, “The production had me working up front next to the stars of the show. I wasn't the blurry figure in the background anymore! This gave me the opportunity to truly show my talent by acting without dialogue which has earned me several moments of screen time in each of the seven episodes I was in. The crew was all super nice and great to work with. I had several great conversations with Matt Barr as well as a memorable conversation with Jared Padalecki while waiting for the crew to get set up for a scene we had together. Matt and Jared made me feel very welcome and were very down to earth.” Since wrapping on Walker, Johnson has earned supporting and lead roles in numerous independent films and an additional series, The Secret Life of Amy Benson shortly after he was submitted for this role in 2022 by his agent Pastorini-.
Bosby.

According to Johnson, the casting director for the series had requested a self-tape audition. Johnson states, “I have a room in my house set up for the sole purpose of self tape auditions so I was able to record the requested self tape and submit it to the casting director right away. A month or two had gone by, when my agent called me with an offer from Passionflix for a recurring Co-star role for multiple seasons.” Filming for the series is taking place in Atlanta, Georgia. Johnson portrays Derek who has made his first appearance in season one / episode six.The Secret Life of Amy Bensen is a Passionflix production. It is based on the novel by New York Times Best Selling Author, Lisa Renee Jones. Passionflix is an OTT entertainment streaming platform and production company. The platform was created and co-founded in 2017 by director and producer Tosca Musk. Passionflix focuses on releasing original film adaptations from best selling romance novels, while also streaming classic romance movies. Jason Johnson states, “Working with Passionflix is top notch. I would love to work for Passionflix again. The Secret Life of Amy Benson can be streamed via the Passionflix platform. Johnson states, “The experience has been incredible and I enjoyed every single moment.”

Johnson discussed how professional Motocross Racing was once his only passion and sole focus. Johnson states, “It consumed my every thought. It was my childhood dream that I shared with my dad. I was always hyper focused on how to get better and what I could do to lower my lap times, make the bike work better, make my body perform better, and so on. Now that I am no longer racing and have completely fallen in love with my new career of acting, I am equally if not more passionate about this career. Acting is all I think about. Acting is the reason I get up in the mornings.” Concluding, “I work full time as an actor and I am fully committed to making my career the best it can be and taking it to the highest level. I believe I have found at least one of my purposes in life. The goal for my career is for me to become a household name that people will enjoy hearing from so that I can help spread happiness, forgiveness, love and compassion. I want to be able to share the blessings my career provides with my family, friends, fans, and strangers. I think we are in a very weird time in our society right now and I would love to help spread positivity to everyone with inspiring words, kind gestures, and philanthropy.”

There are at least a few actors I see that make a big difference by doing these things I mentioned and we need more people like them!

Concluding, “I genuinely love every aspect of my work. I love getting to work with other creative and talented people. I love digging in and figuring out exactly who my character is and why he would say and do the things that are written in the script. I love the challenge of memorizing lines, hitting my marks and bringing the writer and directors vision of my character to life. Don’t get me wrong, some aspects of the work can be tough like 3am call times or working in crazy weather. Although, those experiences make for great memories and great stories so I welcome the challenge. The thing that I enjoy the most about acting is getting to tell a story and create something that helps the audience to escape reality for a while and be entertained.”

Actor Jason Johnson concluded his recent interview discussing what he hopes 2023 has in store for him, stating, “My goal for this year is to showcase my God-Given talent and passion for acting while also working to positively inspire others. I have worked on some great productions in the past, and I am ready and willing to put in the work to prove that I am prepared for leading roles on popular tv shows and movies. I want to work with and learn from other talented actors, directors, producers, writers. Some of the directors I would love the opportunity to work with are Taylor Sheridan, Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Zach Snyder, Quentin Tarantino, James Gunn, Patty Jenkins, The Coen Brothers, and many more.” It would be a dream come true to work for any of the Taylor Sheridan productions but more specifically, The Four Sixes Ranch production. Seal Team would be really fun to be a part of and being that I'm a fan of Marvel & DC movies/series, it's a no-brainer (to me at least) that I would love to portray a superhero some day. Booking a role in those types of productions would be incredibly fulfilling and fun to do. I love all genres of movies and there are too many great ones to list, but I do tend to gravitate towards movies such as Mission Impossible, Extraction, The Magnificent Seven, etc. One of my favorite actors, Denzel Washington has stated, and I definitely agree, “Luck is when opportunity comes along and you’re prepared for it.” I’m prepared. I'm ready, concludes Johnson, “ready to continue learning and growing both professionally and personally. Ready to take my career to the next level and ready to work on top level productions with top level talent, bringing my very best to every set I’m blessed to be on as an actor.”

Inspiration

Growing up I heard one of my favorite racers, specifically Chad Reed, said “don't give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about it,” and that has inspired me to go after my dreams and goals with a never quit attitude. A personal and heartfelt source of inspiration for me was (and always will be) my Nana. She was the most loving, thoughtful, selfless, and generous person that I have ever met. She was a big part of my life and a big reason I am who I am today. She was filled with such unconditional love that it didn't matter how many times I made mistakes in life, she loved me anyway. She was my biggest fan. She made me want to be a better person.”
