AHA Walk Advances Awareness For Leading Causes of Deaths
The American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk is the organization's largest source of funding for life-saving science.

AUSTIN, TX — Each year, the American Heart Association works to advance awareness for heart disease and stroke, the country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers. As a way to raise funds and save lives, The Heart Walk connects the community and celebrates heart disease and stroke survivors, while honoring the efforts of volunteers and partners who work tirelessly to promote the mission of the American Heart Association.
Having raised $932,174 so far toward the 2019 goal of $1,730,000, the American Heart Association invites walkers and runners to participate in this year's Heart Walk on Saturday, Oct. 19 beginning at 7 a.m. The event includes a 1 mile walk (free), 5K walk (free), and a timed 5K run ($50). Heart disease and stroke survivors play a prominent role of the Heart Walks, and survivors receive a red ball cap and the opportunity to gather and meet with other survivors.
The location of the Heart Walk will be at The Long Center at 701 W Riverside Dr. Austin, TX 78704. The event will feature a Kids Zone, healthy snacks provided at various booths, and water located throughout sites at the event. Well-behaved pets are also welcome to the Walk and more details and registration link may be found on at the American Heart Association Heart Walk website.
