AJFF Hosts Screening Of Václav Marhoul's "The Painted Bird"
The virtual event will feature access to view "The Painted Bird", followed by a Q&A with the director and cast of the award-winning film.
AUSTIN, TX — Austin Jewish Film Festival (AJFF) invite the community to a screening of The Painted Bird followed by Q&A with director Václav Marhoul and its cast members. Based on the 1965 novel by Jerzy Kosinski, the film adaptation chronicles a boy living in war-torn Eastern Europe who is sent away by his parents to live with a relative under more safe conditions.
Soon after his caregiver dies, the boy journeys home and encounters a series of people and experiences that ultimately define him and his views of the world around him. The film explores brutality, despair, hope and compassion. The film's cinematography coupled with the difficult subject matter create a hauntingly vivid portrayal of the horrors of Nazi Germany. Audience note: The film contains graphic and intense imagery, and viewer discretion is strongly advised.
To watch the movie itself, please visit IFC Film’s event page with links to where you can watch it on online pay-per-view. The virtual event kicks off with the screening on Sunday, September 13 at 2 p.m. For more information, including a link to the free event click HERE.
