AUSTIN, TX — Now in its 31st year, the Annual Children Giving to Children Parade kicks off the Christmas season to benefit the Austin Police Operation Blue Santa to help collect toys for the children of Central Texas. Since 1989, over a quarter of a million toys have been collected and distributed for the purpose of giving joy to a child who otherwise may not receive anything for Christmas.

In 1987, Chuy's co-founder Mike Young and KLBJ-FM created an annual toy drive held at the two Chuy's Austin locations to benefit the Operation Blue Santa Program. After two years, Young decided the Toy Drive needed greater awareness and in order to collect more toys, the Parade was born. The success of the Parade is made possible by the thousands who come out each year to enjoy the festive holiday floats, marching bands, giant inflatable balloons, and to catch a glimpse of Santa.

The Children Giving to Children Parade invites the community to enjoy the procession that starts at the State Capitol at 11th and Congress, and makes its way south on Congress to Cesar Chavez and ending just north of the bridge (Map). As in previous years, the Parade offers opportunities for volunteers and parade sponsors. To find out more information, please click HERE.
