Annual Event Offers Free Admission To Area Museums
Austin Museum Day 2019 offers visitors free admission all day Sunday, Sept. 22 at participating museums and chances to win great prizes.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin's penchant for history and art is recognized by locals and visitors alike. With never a shortage of things to do, Austin's museums add another layer to the city's dynamic appeal. Whether you enjoy exploring cultures or appreciate contemporary art, or if you're planning a visit and are looking for a family-friendly experience, Austin's museums offer something fascinating for everyone to enjoy.
The Austin Museum Partnership is pleased to invite the community to Austin Museum Day 2019 on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 with free admission to over 45 participating museums. Volunteers from the Austin Museum Partnership will be on the Plaza outside the Bullock Museum located at 1800 Congress Ave. from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the canopy designated as HQ where visitors may find detailed information about Austin Museum Day 2019, and the first 100 visitors to the HQ canopy will receive a FREE Austin Museum Day tote bag.

Museum visitors are also invited to participate in the Instagram Photo Contest sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission and Austin Museum Partnership, where participants have a chance to win prizes from local museums. The contest is open 9 a.m. until 9 pm. on Sunday, Sept. 22. To participate:
1. Follow @TxHistComm and @Austinmuseums on Instagram
2. Take a photograph at one of the participating Austin Museum Day institutions
3. Post it to Instagram (make sure your profile is public)
4. Tag the participating institution and #ATXMuseumDay2019
Multiple submissions are allowed. Contest closes at 9pm on Sunday, Sept. 22; submissions posted after 9pm will not be included. A total of 5 winners will be selected by a panel of judges which includes staff of Texas Historical Commission and Austin Museum Partnership. Winners will be announced the week following the contest.
