Austin Airport October 2020 Down Amid Coronavirus
The ongoing reach of respiratory illness pandemic negatively impacted travel activity as passenger traffic dropped by nearly 70 percent.
AUSTIN, TX — Passenger traffic at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport remained lower than usual in October as a result of an ongoing reach of the coronavirus pandemic, officias revealed Monday.
Passenger traffic for the month decreased by 67.7 percent compared to the comparable period last year, with 507,858 passengers flying during the month. Airport officials broke down the numbers:

Total passenger traffic for October 2020 was 507,858 down 67.7 percent compared to October 2019. October 2020 enplanements totaled 251,734, airport officials said.
- Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 157,915 down 69.5 percent.
- American Airlines passengers totaled 117,901, down 57.4 percent.
- United Airlines passengers totaled 77,327, down 65.9 percent.
- Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 61,803, down 70.9 percent.
- Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 28,876, down 60.3 percent.
- Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 22,108, down 63.1 percent.
- JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 19,753, down 57.5 percent.
- Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 16,793, down 83.2 percent.
- Allegiant Air passengers totaled 3,618, down 60.3 percent.
- Sun Country passengers totaled 1,590, down 54.9 percent.
- Swift Air passengers totaled 204.

October 2020 air cargo totaled 22,472,022 lbs., up 29.6 percent compared to October 2019. International air cargo totaled 32,309 pounds, down 98.2 percent.
- Atlas Air carried 8,127,768 pounds. No percentage comparison from last year was provided.
- Federal Express carried 7,976,003 pounds, down 1.3 percent.
- United Parcel Service carried 2,635,193 pounds, down 22.1 percent.
Air Services
Air services transferred 772,246 pounds of mail, down 20.6 percent and 475,981 pounds of belly freight, down 76.5 percent.
Aircraft Operations
General Aviation operations totaled 3,225, down 23.9 percent. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 10,871, down 42.9 percent.

Total passenger traffic from January to October 2020 was 5,447,217 down 62.2 percent, compared to the comparable period last year. January – October 2020 enplanements totaled 2,714,542, down 62.3 percent.

- American Airlines passengers totaled 1,132,959, down 55.8 percent.
- United Airlines passengers totaled 701,501, down 66.1 percent.
- Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 687,703, down 65.1 percent.
- Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 367,507, down 40.2 percent.
- Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 222,090, down 57.6 percent.
- Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 186,184, down 75.4 percent.
- JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 169,865, down 64 percent.
- Allegiant Air passengers totaled 70,475, down 55.3 percent.
