Austin Among Nation's Best For Young Professionals

SmartAsset researchers assessed the nation's largest cities across nine metrics to achieve its list of the best for young professionals.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin has emerged as one of the nation's best U.S. cities for young professionals, according to a newly released study.

Researchers at SmartAsset analyzed the 150 largest cities across nine metrics, including the percentage of the population between the ages of 25 and 34, the May 2020 unemployment rate, the median earnings for full-time workers and the cost of living.

The capital city snagged the 12th spot in the study, sandwiched between Washington, D.C. and St. Paul, Minnesota. Austin was the only Texas city making the top 25 list. Spoiler alert: The best city for young professionals, according to the study, is St. Louis, Missouri.
