On Friday March 4, Austin Public Health moved Austin into Stage 2 of its COVID-19 Risk Based Guidelines. This comes less than a week after moving into Stage 3.

By entering Stage 2, businesses are no longer required to post signage related to the Mayor and Judge’s orders from January.

As the trends around COVID-19 continue to improve businesses will be faced with new questions about navigating this phase of the pandemic. Although the conditions and stages are changing rapidly, Austin Public Health still recommends wearing masks indoors, especially when social distancing is not possible through at least March 20 due to spring break travel and the Spring Festival Season.

Stage 2 Guidance from Austin Public Health:

  • Individuals who are up to date with vaccination may participate in indoor or outdoor private gatherings, dine and shop without precautions. Travel with precautions.
  • Partially or unvaccinated individuals should take preventive measures: wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance.
