Austin Diaper Bank Offers Assistance To Struggling Families

AUSTIN, TX — On average, The National Diaper Bank Network estimates 1 in 3 American families reports experiencing diaper need, with 5 million children in the U.S. aged three or younger living in poor or low-income families. The cost of disposable diapers can cost $70-$80 per month per baby, and in these challenging moments amid coronavirus, or COVID-19, costs like these are monumental to struggling families. The difficulty in making frequent trips to the grocery store to replenish necessities in the midst of the public health crisis adds to the anxiety of an already difficult situation.

In an effort to help families in need especially during this crisis, the Austin Diaper Bank has implemented a schedule for diaper pick up at various locations around the Austin area. In addition to these services, families are encouraged to call 2-1-1 to find additional resources around the city. Families in need of diapers may visit any of the food pantries listed below, or may drive to the organization's Diaper Pick-Up Day for Families on Friday. Diapers and Food Pantries Serving the Community April 1 through April 15

• Covenant Food Pantry, 4410 Duval Rd., Austin, TX 78727. Every Wednesday from 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
• Brighter Days Food Pantry, 300 Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, TX 78641. Every Wednesday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Senior Hours: 3rd Tuesday of the month from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
• Reveal Resource Center, 1150 S. Bell Blvd., Cedar Park, TX 78631. Monday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
• Round Rock Area Serving Center, 1099 E. Main St., Round Rock, TX 78664. Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
