Austin Drive-In Film Festival Details Released

Organizers of the popular film series have added a fifth weekend in August due to popular demand.

AUSTIN, TX — Organizers of the popular Summer Drive-In Film Festival on Thursday revealed details related to the fourth weekend of the event later this summer.

The double feature scheduled Aug. 7 and Aug. 8 will show Terminator 2 Judgment Day and War Machine. The former showing will take place at EVO Kyle while the latter will be at EVO Schertz, organizers said in an email. Robert Patrick is the scheduled special guest at both screenings.

The August screenings represent an added weekend due to overwhelming response to the festival, organizers said Event organizers noted James Jude Courtney will no longer be able to attend the upcoming festival event due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts. The festival kicked off on July 17 has several screenings this month in addition to the added weekend:

The Halloween in July weekend has since been changed to reflect the new special guest, Sean Astin, known for movies like The Goonies, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and more, as well as shows such as Stranger Things. Astin will be joining the festival virtually from his home in Los Angeles, but will be participating in the Q&A portion of the festival. That weekend, EVO Entertainment will show a double feature of Rudy and The Goonies.

The added fifth weekend features Patrick, known for his work in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Walk the Line, We Are Marshall and many more. Patrick has also been featured in shows such as The Sopranos, Burn Notice, and Sons of Anarchy among others. EVO Entertainment is planning to show a double feature of The Terminator and the Netflix film War Machine.

Given the aforementioned changes, EVO has reached out to ticket holders of the affected weekends to offer a refund or the opportunity to hold their tickets.

The festival kicked off with screenings on July 17 and July 18 of the John Hughes comedy classics Weird Science and 16 Candles. The special guest was actress Kelly LeBrock.
