Several scheduled classes and workshops offer residents effective ways to succeed in 2019.

AUSTIN, TX -- A new year is upon us and with it opportunities for reinvention and renewed hopes. The manner in which we celebrate may differ from person to person, and for each of us, the new year may signal something different. But as time passes one thing remains true and perhaps universal -- possibility propels us.
Along with revelry, resolutions are a common practice for ringing in the new year. Popular resolutions include landing a new job, saving money, or leading a healthier lifestyle. Whatever your plans, be thankful you live in a city where you won't have to search too far to make things happen this 2019. Money Management

- Foundation Communities Money Management Classes: An Austin-based non-profit, Foundation Communities holds classes throughout the year for households with an annual income of $55,000 or less. As part of a three-part series, experienced financial coaches assist community members cover in depth topics including credit, debt reduction and savings. - Financial Fitness Greater Austin (FFGA): In partnership with the Alliance for Economic Inclusion and more than 60 entities in the Greater Austin area, FFGA works with community members on ways to become financially fit and identify ways toward building a secure financial future for themselves and their families. - Financial Literacy Coalition of Central Texas (FLCCT): FLCCT promotes financial education to help community members make better decisions that positively impact their financial futures. Classes and workshops are offered throughout the year and designed for specific age groups. Career Planning
- The Center for Professional Education (CPE): CPE is available to anyone thinking about a career change, entering the job market for the first time or re-entering the work force after a break. CPE offers career planning workshops to help you identify strengths and skills and to gauge career paths. - Job Seekers Network (JSN): JSN is a non-profit organization in Austin that provides comprehensive job search programs and services and emotional and spiritual support to unemployed and underemployed adults in Greater Austin. - Running In the USA: A list of upcoming races, event, and runs taking place in Austin, TX for the 2019 year. Site also offers links to local clubs open to individuals of all fitness levels. For more details, click HERE.
- Breathe, Meditate, Be Happy - Introduction to Happiness Program: The Art of Living Foundation will host a FREE event open to the community to help them de-stress through the power of breath, yoga and meditation, and by teaching practical approaches to recharging daily. - FREE Community Health Series for Seniors: The Austin Central Library will host a FREE community health series for seniors. Chris Goddin, Lac, MAcOM, an integrative medicine specialist, licensed acupuncturist and master herbalist will discuss topics including proven methods for preventing age-related diseases, holistic heart health for seniors, natural prevention, etc. The first of several events will be held on Thursday, January 3 beginning at 6 PM.
