Austin Fast Start Offers Entrepreneurs Chance To Pitch Ideas

The virtual pitch competition is accepting applications from entrepreneurs with ideas reflective of City's economic development priorities.

AUSTIN, TX —Budding entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to pitch their innovative business ideas as the City of Austin Economic Development and the Austin Young Chamber announce their Austin Fast Start small business pitch competition. Austin Fast Start offers various industries to pitch ideas that reflect the priorities within Austin economic development. Applications are open through Monday, May 18 and the virtual pitch competition will be on Monday, June 15.

“Austin Fast Start continues to be a successful program that elevates businesses through connections, awareness, and funding,” said Veronica Briseño, Director of the Economic Development Department. “We’re honored to provide a platform for these entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative business ideas.”

Offered through the Economic Development Department Small Business Division, they provide one-on-one business coaching, entrepreneur training, in addition to incentives and resources designed to help small businesses prosper in a competitive business environment. The next Austin Fast Start focuses on Internet of Things, with businesses offering transformative solutions for the way we live and work and exploring the interconnection between everyday objects and internet connectivity.

A panel of judges from across industries in the community with diverse backgrounds and skills will score the applications, and the top four scored applications will be selected as finalists and an opportunity to virtually pitch their business on June 15. Once the finalists have pitched, the judging panel will score, and the audience will offer their vote to select a winner. The winner will receive a cash prize of $2,500 plus $4,000 in-kind prizes, including business coaching and resources. To learn more click HERE.
