Austin Public Health and community leaders will host a virtual conversation on the pandemic's impact on the Latinx community.
AUSTIN, TX — Austin Public Health and community leaders invite area residents to an interactive Facebook live conversation on actionable steps and resources designed to improve the COVID-19 related health outcomes for the Latinx community. Together Against COVID-19 Latinx Community Forum scheduled Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. CST will be in Spanish on the Austin Public Health’s Facebook page, and representatives from Austin Public Health and the Latinx community will discuss the impact the pandemic has on Latinx community members.
The forum will include the opportunity to share available resources and will ask for input from participants on ways the City can improve its response. Public health data shared illustrates the disproportionate numbers of COVID-19 positive test cases within Latinx community, and City staff want to work closely with the Latinx community to identify actions to improve COVID-19 rates among Latinx residents in the community.
There will be an additional meeting on Saturday, July 11 to further the conversation among communities of color regarding the impact of COVID-19 and the long-term public health challenges associated with the disease. The City of Austin website will provide updates and announcements for the upcoming meeting designed to address concerns related to COVID-19 and its impact among communities of color.
