Austin-Made Beer Made To Inspire Voters
The woman-owned Independence Brewing Co. offers Blood Orange Hefeweizen 'Freak Power' referencing Hunter S. Thompson's '70 race for sheriff.

AUSTIN, TX — With a consequential election next month, the creative mind can go into overdrive with reflection, introspection and imaginative artistic output. In something of a stream-of-consciousness artistic creation, Independence Brewing Co. has manifested its own inspiration amid uncertain times.
It's the Austin-made Blood Orange Hefeweizen named Freak Power, namesake of a groundbreaking campaign for sheriff of Aspen, Colorado, by the late author Hunter S. Thompson way back in 1970. The brew is made by Independence Brewing Co., a woman-owned brewery that happens to be one of the longest-standing craft breweries in Central Texas, Patch was told via email.
The sacrosanct nature of our right to vote figured prominently in the beer's creation, Independence Brewing Co. officials told Patch: "As early voting in Texas begins Tuesday, Oct. 13, election season is just around the corner! In honor of this, we are sharing an Austin-made beer that is specially made to inspire voters."

The beer is available for a limited time only, brewery officials said. Not unlike the early voting period, also open for a limited time. Remember: Early voting this year is from Oct. 13-30. So don't forget to hops over to your polling place, embrace your brewtiful right of voting and pitcher yourself later raising a glass to democracy.
Cheers!
