Austin Office Closed, Services Altered For MLK Holiday

All municipal offices will close on Monday in observance of the holiday, and some city services will be rescheduled.

AUSTIN, TX — City of Austin administrative office will close and some public services will be rescheduled for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, officials said Thursday.

Trash, recycling and composting/yard trimmings schedules

Austin Resource Recovery Curbside Services will not be affected by the holiday. The city’s Recycle & Reuse Drop-Off Center remains closed as part of the City’s COVID-19 Stage 5 restrictions. Residents can download the Austin Recycles App or visit austintexas.gov/myschedule to look up their collection schedules.

Austin Public Health COVID-19 test site schedules and dashboard

All Austin Public Health COVID-19 test sites will be closed Jan. 18, but the COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard will continue to be updated.

Parks and recreation facilities

All Parks and Recreation facilities currently open will maintain regular Monday hours on Jan. 18, 2021 under Stage 5 COVID-19 restrictions, including City pools, golf courses, and the Zilker Botanical Garden. Residents are encouraged call ahead or visit austintexas.gov/parks for specific hours of operation.

Austin Public Library schedule

Austin Public Library, Recycled Reads Bookstore, and the Austin History Center branches will be closed on Jan. 18, 2021. Library resources available remotely can be accessed at the Austin Public Library website.

Austin Animal Center schedule

The Austin Animal Center is currently closed to the public during Stage 5 COVID-19 restrictions, and will not facilitate virtual adoptions on Jan. 18.
