Austin Residents Invited To Apply To Redistricting Commission
The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is a chance for residents to apply for a role in reshaping Austin's future.
AUSTIN, TX — Austin residents are invited to apply for roles within the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission for the opportunity to draw the new boundaries of Austin's ten city council districts. Redistricting occurs every ten years and shapes the way residents are represented in the coming decade. As Austin continues to grow and flourish, the redistricting process is an important facet for shaping the way the City thinks of its communities, and how residents are represented by City Council.
Residents involved in the Commission have the chance to meet with other Austin residents across the city and learn more about the history of the City, and make important decisions for Austin's future. An open and impartial process, Austin relies on a new group of residents to draw the district boundaries that are reflective of the City's diversity.
Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission Applications are open through September 30, 2020. For eligibility and conditions, and the application to the Commission click HERE.
