The Breath Project Announces Call For Entries
Breath Project Archive invites theater artists of color to submit original work for the archive and the 2020 virtual festival.

AUSTIN, TX — The Breath Project Archive – whose mission is to select, curate and archive work from multidisciplinary theater artists of color who are responding to our current moment in history, and to build relationships between artists of color and producers of live theater in their city, state and/or region – announce a call for entries, along with a virtual 2020 festival of selected works. Proceeds from funds raised for the 2020 virtual festival are given to presenting artists and the curation of the online event.
Artists of color are invited to submit a recording of a live performance based on the artist's original work. Submission guidelines include:
- Submissions must be a recording of a live performance of original work, and must be 8 minutes and 46 seconds in length;
- Submissions will be accepted from artists of color who reside in the United States (work submitted by artists under the age of 18 will be considered in a youth category);
- Submissions must include a link to your video submission, artist bio and photo.
- The deadline for consideration for the 2020 Virtual Festival HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 14, 2020, 5:00 PST. At this time, there is no deadline for submissions to the archive (if you have work that would like to submit after September 14, we would still love to include it as part of the archive, and in subsequent promotions of the work in the archive).
- We strongly recommend that you read the Frequently Asked Questions, and check the list of Partner Theaters to see which theaters are able to offer space and other resources.
