Bullock Museum Hosts Virtual Lunch-Time Lecture
Author and historian William Bush will discuss his book highlighting the transformation of understanding of mental health topics in Texas.
AUSTIN, TX —The Bullock Museum will host a virtual lunch-time lecture to learn how mental health moved out of the shadows into the light. High Noon Talk: Circuit Riders for Mental Health scheduled Thursday, July 2 from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. CDT and will feature historian and author William Bush in a livestream discussion to offer insight on a range of topics centered on mental health.
Circuit Riders for Mental Health explores the transformation of popular understandings of mental health; the reform of scandal-ridden hospitals and institutions; the emergence of community mental health services; and the extension of mental health services to minority populations in Texas. The book focuses between the 1940's and 1980's as a way to demonstrate the dramatic progress made within the state in mental health sector.
