Burn Ban Lifted At Austin Parks, Green Belts, Preserves

Lower temperatures and recent rainfall have prompted suspension, enabling residents to grill and propane stoves in designated picnic areas.

AUSTIN, TX — Lower temperatures and recent rainfall have prompted the lifting of burn restrictions in Austin parks, green belts and preserves, officials said.

The lifting of the ban took effect on Tuesday, Austin Parks and Recreation Department officials wrote in an advisory. As a result, park visitors may use provided grills, fire rings, and propane stoves in designated picnic areas. As a general reminder, parks officials noted that smoking is always prohibited in City of Austin parks.

Despite suspension of the burn ban, parks officials said they will be re-evaluating the wildfire risk on an ongoing basis and will advise the public if circumstances change.
