City Of Austin To Host Drive-Thru Mask Distributions For Local Small Businesses

AUSTIN, Texas – The City of Austin’s Economic Development Department (EDD) is distributing 96,000 masks to local small businesses at no-cost on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Business owners and their staff can drive through one of two city facilities beginning at 1 p.m. to pick up masks for employees and customers.

“Austin’s local small businesses play a large role in stopping the spread of COVID-19, which is why we are empowering our local businesses with these resources so they can continue prioritizing the well-being of employees and customers,” said Veronica Briseño, Chief Economic Recovery Officer. “These resources help keep businesses open and customers safe.”

The drive-thru distributions are intended to support local small businesses and organizations. Austin Public Health hosts a series of free Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) distribution events. EDD staff will place boxes with masks in the trunk of each vehicle. To ensure a smooth drive-thru process, drivers should remain in their vehicles with their trunk open.
