Clinics Offer 15-Minute Results For Coronavirus Across Texas

Total Primary Care offers rapid nasal swab antigen tests that deliver results in 15 minutes at its primary care clinics in Austin and DFW.

AUSTIN, TX — Total Primary Care is now offering rapid COVID-19 nasal swab antigen tests that deliver results in 15 minutes at its primary care clinics in the Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth areas, officials announced Monday.

Demand for COVID-19 testing has skyrocketed in recent weeks, overwhelming public testing sites and labs across Texas. Most sites are currently only testing people with symptoms while it can take 10 to 14 days to receive results.

“We can’t stop the spread of this highly contagious disease without ramping up rapid results testing,” Robert Sek, founder and CEO of Total Primary Care, said in a prepared statement. “People who believe they may have been exposed to this virus need to take preventative measures to protect others immediately. They can’t afford to wait a week or longer before taking action if they are infected, and they don’t need to quarantine or miss work for 10 days if they are healthy.”

Total Primary Care is only testing asymptomatic people at its Total Men’s Primary Care and Total Primary Care locations at this time, officials noted.

The rapid nasal swab antigen testing is meant for people who worry they may have been exposed and those who simply want or need to confirm that they are negative prior to traveling, returning to work, undergoing a medical procedure or participating in group activities such as weddings or sporting events, officials described.

Manufactured by Quidel Corp., the rapid nasal swab antigen test now offered by Total Primary Care is the same test Major League Baseball is using for its players and staff for COVID-19 as it restarts its season. Total Primary Care was recently selected as a preferred testing provider for employees and agents of various federal agencies and departments, officials added.

Most major insurance plans are covering the cost for COVID-19 testing, according to an advisory, and some plans are even waiving co-pays to encourage such testing. To get tested, a patient should go to Total Primary Care’s website to schedule an appointment.

The rapid antigen tests are currently available at 16 Total Primary Care Austin locations and all of its Dallas-Fort Worth locations. Men, women and children can be tested at Total Care Primary Care and Total Men’s Primary Care locations.
