Work On SH 130 Lanes Near Cameron Road Delayed

The work that was set for Friday involved installation of overhead toll equipment, but the likelihood of rain has prompted a postponement.

AUSTIN, TX — Texas Department of Transportation crews had planned to close the southbound SH 130 main lanes this weekend for installation of overhead toll equipment before the work was postponed due to the likelihood of rain, officials said Thursday.

The work was to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday (July 24) as crews close the southbound SH 130 main lanes at the Cameron Road exit (#432). Drivers will be detoured to the Cameron Road exit to travel through the toll gantry and re-enter SH 130 just north of Cameron Road, officials said in an advisory. All lanes were expected to have reopened no later than Monday (July 27) at 6 a.m., according to the advisory.

But a tropical formation over the Gulf of Mexico is threatening to create inclement weather in parts of Texas, prompting cancellation of the project, transportation officials later advised. The work will be launched at a later date that has yet to be determined, officials added.
