Code Galaxy Austin Offering Winter Camps For Kids
Code Galaxy locations will host various camps through the Christmas break for kids to learn about coding and technology.
AUSTIN, TX— If you're looking for opportunities to keep your child active this holiday break, Code Galaxy offers Winter Break Camps in Robotics, App Development, Minecraft, and more. Camps will be offered at both Code Galaxy locations (Westlake and Downtown). The camps offer kids the opportunity to keep busy and learn valuable skills during their days off from school.
Code Galaxy will offer most camps on available multiple dates for either half day or full day. The camps will run on Monday, Dec. 23; Thursday, Dec. 26; Friday, Dec. 27; Monday, Dec. 30; Thursday, Jan. 2; and Friday, Jan. 3.

- Robotics & IOT with Sphero and Makey Makey 12/23 & 1/2 Half & Full Day Options Available
Dive into the world of coding and technology. Build essential computer and typing skills, learning how computers, operating systems, and how the internet works. Students will solidify their skills using the keyboard and technology tools like email, search engines, all while having a blast with Sphero and Makey Makey. Students will begin to explore the magic they can create with a block-based programming language creating code and creating inventions they can program with Scratch. Get introduced to the world of robotics, learning with the Sphero bot, and connect your computer programming skills with the real-world testing and refining of programs.
- Hacking Minecraft with ComputerCraft & LUA 12/26 & 1/3 Half & Full Day Options Available
Everyone loves Minecraft! With the ComputerCraft mod, students will explore the ways that their favorite game can teach them how to program. The ComputerCraft mod for Minecraft allows students to place turtles and computers in their Minecraft world, and program these turtles to automate tasks. Students will harness the power of code to build walls using an array of items, staircases to outer space, rooms, and even entire buildings. Kids will love automating Minecraft and setting up their own server. This course will strengthen programming skills, combining functions and using composition and control structures to allow students to construct the Minecraft world of their dreams.

- Create Your First App with MIT App Inventor 12/27 Half & Full Day Options Available
MIT App Inventor 2 makes app development a reality for kids! Using a graphical environment to layout the screen, along with block programming, Students can build, test, and even publish fully functional apps. Kids will also learn about the process that software developers need such as app security, databases, and how to create the programming logic that makes the apps function. By the end of the course, students will have developed apps such as bouncy ball and mole mash games, and learn how to create apps that can communicate and store data, opening up the world of mobile development.
- Intro to Technology & Junior Coding 12/30 Half Day Options Available
Introduce your Junior Coder to technology in a fun and purposeful way! Kids will get an introduction to different kinds of devices, software, and operating systems, familiarizing themselves with how these systems work, while learning how to use them to expand their knowledge and grow creatively. Learn about patterns, loops, and how computers are programmed. Kids will code with Ozobots experimenting with code and loops, using their newfound coding knowledge in a fun and hands-on arena.
