Cold Front Coming To Austin Region

Fall will be making its presence known next week with temps in the 50s, yielding a perfect time to take out the sweater (swehdr).

AUSTIN, TX — A cold front will arrive across the Austin region next week, with evening temperatures dipping into the 50s yielding an ideal time take out those sweaters from the closet.

Given the still-memorable streak of triple-digit weather that visited the region this summer, sweaters might seem out of place in the abstract. For those having difficulty with the concept, a sweater is a knitted garment typically with long sleeves, worn over the upper body. Such garments are used to protect the body against colder weather.

And that autumnal climate will be arriving in earnest as of Monday, according to forecasters. The vestiges of summer lingered on Saturday, with a high near 89 degrees during the day as reported by the National Weather Service. Sunday night's low was forecast to 73 degrees, with wind gusts as high as 20 miles per hour.

Remnants of summer were expected into Sunday when it's expected to be mostly sunny, with a high also expected to reach near 90 degrees. Nighttime temps on Sunday were expected to reach a low of 67 degrees, according to weather forecasters.

This all changes Monday. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected before 1 p.m. under mostly sunny skies, with a high near 76 degrees. Wind gusts are expected to increase in velocity, up to 30 miles per hour.

Then, you might want to brace yourself for Monday night, when the low will be around 56 degress under mostly clear skies. Wind gusts of 10-15 miles per hour are expected to grow in intensity to 25 miles per hour.

Here's the rest of the forecast for the coming days:
