Dell Children’s Medical Center North Plans Grand Opening Celebration

Hundreds of community members gathered to celebrate the new Dell Children's Medical Center North Campus, the first pediatric hospital in Williamson County.

Dell Children’s Medical Center North Campus leadership, Mayor Kirk Watson, Austin Police Department Superheroes, Williamson County First Responders, and many others joined together for a community celebration for the new, state-of-the-art Dell Children’s Medical Center North Campus in Williamson County.

"Dell Children’s Medical Center North Campus is designed to meet the specific healthcare needs of children and families in this growing community, now and long into the future. Dell Children’s North will provide comprehensive health, wellness and emergency services in a child friendly environment," said Cathy Heckenlivey, Chief Administrative Officer, Dell Children’s Medical Center North Campus.

The hospital totals more than 187,000 square feet and includes 36 patient beds,emergency and trauma services, two operating rooms, endoscopy and procedure rooms, sleep labs, and shelled space for future growth. Dell Children’s Medical Center North opens on April 27.

"The 36-bed hospital will offer emergency and trauma services, and level 3 trauma status once it opens April 27," said Dr. Melissa Cossey, associate chief medical officer of the Dell Children's Medical Center North campus.

Dell Children’s Medical Center North will have four floors for specialized pediatric care:

• First level: emergency department offering level III trauma care
• 2nd Floor: two operating rooms
• 3rd Floor: 36 beds and Ronald McDonald suite, with a lounge, kitchen and bedrooms
• 4th Floor: dedicated to future growth and expansion for a capacity of capacity of 36 more beds
