Disgraced Cyclist Lance Armstrong Puts Home Up For Sale For Whopping Price
The asking price is $8.2 million, about four times more than its appraised value.
DOWNTOWN AUSTIN-UT, TX -- For sale: Recently remodeled, 8,000-square-foot, 5/7 home of disgraced Tour de France bicyclist in charming gated community. Amenities include sitting area and climate-controlled wine cellar. A bargain at just over $8 million!
Former cycling champion Lance Armstrong listed his West Austin home for sale recently, with an asking price of $8.25 million, the Austin American-Statesman newspaper reported.
But soon after the published details, the real real estate company listing the home, Gottesman Residential Real Estate, took the listing off its website Thursday, the same day of the newspaper account.

The reporter, however, had the presence of mind to record descriptive architectural details before the listing was pulled off the site.
The property “...is a fantastic blend of original charm, modern amenities and timeless design,” the website read. “The home has been meticulously executed with details that include plaster walls, arched doorways, walls of windows and hardwood floors.”

Formerly owned by past Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes, the 8,157-square-foot home is appraised at $2.2 million by the Travis Central Appraisal District, the newspaper reports.
A seven-time Tour de France champion, Armstrong subsequently was stripped of his titles following a doping scandal. A cancer survivor, Armstrong’s foundation continues its mission of supporting those with the disease although its top executive resigned earlier this month.
According to media reports at the time, Armstrong first bought the home in 2013 after selling another property its real estate agents dubbed a “modern castle.”
According to CultureMap, the former cyclist bought the home now listed for sale five days after selling another one on Lake Austin to race car driver Bret Curtis. That other house also was in a gated community, in the exclusive Rob Roy subdivision.
