AUSTIN, TX — South Central Texas will experience very cold temperatures through Thursday morning, with the region under an "extreme cold warning" advisory until noon Thursday.
Counties under the extreme cold warning include Llano, Burnet, Williamson, Val Verde, Edwards, Real, Kerr, Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Blanco, Hays, Travis, Bastrop, Lee, Kinney, Uvalde, Medina, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, and Caldwell.
Wind chills will range from below zero to around 15 to 20 degrees. Residents should protect people, pets, plants and pipes.

Cloudy and gusty conditions will keep temperatures low Wednesday, with limited daytime warming east of Interstate 35. Hard freezes are expected on both mornings.
Clouds will increase into the weekend, bringing a chance of showers on Saturday. Warmer temperatures and sunnier skies are expected next week.

"Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside," the NWS said. "Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside."
