Fall 2019: Uniquely Austin Experiences To Usher In The Season

From festivals to cemetery walking tours, here's a glimpse at some fun and one-of-a-kind events happening around town this fall.

AUSTIN, TX — As the famous adage goes, "everything is bigger in Texas". So, why not explore the big ways Austin celebrates the advent of fall? The autumnal equinox officially begins Monday, Sept. 22 and with it comes giddy anticipation for all the amazing events and activities planned in Austin. Here are some notable and quintessential fall events happening in our fare city. Get out there and enjoy!

  • 2019 Texas Craft Brewers Festival: The Texas craft-beer community comes together to celebrate an evening sampling event Saturday, Sept. 28 from 2 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. This 21 and over only event is described as the "state's largest craft beer event focused exclusively on Texas craft beer." The day-long event will take place at Fiesta Gardens located at 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St., Austin, TX 78702. For tickets and event information, click HERE.
  • Austin Oktoberfest 2019: Happening Saturday, Sept. 28, the Austin Oktoberfest was voted by Food & Wine Magazine as one of the "best Oktoberfest's in America." The 7th Annual AustOberfest (Austin + Oktoberfest) celebrates Central Texas German heritage with German-style sausage, lots of bier, contest stage, bowling and live music. Tickets Include: AustOberfest Commemorative Glass, Bier Tastings, and Unlimited Sausage Tastings (while supplies last) and takes place at 1607 San Jacinto, Austin, TX 78701.   • ACL Music Festival: Get ready for the ultimate music experience that captures the spirit of the city and why Austin is known as the "live music capital of the world." Slated over the course of two weekends, Weekend 1: Oct. 4-6, 2019 Weekend 2: Oct. 11-13, 2019 at Zilker Park, the multi-day event is a collective of acts from some of the world's best artists across 8 stages.   • 2019 Texas Book Festival: Book lovers rejoice! The 24th annual Texas Book Festival is upon us and takes place Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. & Sunday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. held in and around the grounds of the State Capitol Building in Austin. The FREE event is open to the public and is one of the largest and most prestigious literary festivals in the country. The Texas Book Festival features 300+ nationally and critically recognized adult and children’s authors, 100+ exhibitors, local food trucks, family activities, and countless opportunities to meet authors and fellow book lovers.   • 2019 Murder, Mayhem & Misadventure Walking Tour: Nothing celebrates the season like a uniquely Austin tour of Historic Oakwood Cemetery. Happening Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1601 Navasota St., Austin, TX, the free tours cover the chilling, untimely deaths of “residents” of Oakwood portrayed by actors at their grave sites.
