Fashion By Austin Creates Masks To Help Local Fashion Industry
Central Texas designers will sell cotton masks in an effort to help the community and to keep the fashion industry working.
AUSTIN, TX —Fashion by Austin, the fashion event producer behind Austin Fashion Week, has enlisted the help of Central Texas Fashion designers to create face coverings now required to be worn in public by Austin residents. The effort is also intended to create work opportunities for Austin-area fashion designers whose livelihood has been affected due to the coronavirus public health crisis.
The masks are being made of at least 2-ply cotton with designs based on materials the designer has on hand. The machine washable and reusable masks will be made with ties rather than elastic, as the material is in short supply. All masks are $10 plus tax, and those purchasing may also choose to donate by completing the form HERE. Donated masks may be sent to first responders or families in need. Once orders are received, customers have the option to choose free porch pick (contactless), or have the masks delivered locally or shipped outside of Austin for a $10 fee.
