Film Series Celebrates Queer Taiwanese Cinema
Prismatic Taiwan: A Queer Film Series is a fascinating look into the evolution of LGBTQ subjects throughout the country's cinema history.
AUSTIN, TX — Audiences are invited to a virtual, six-film series celebrating queer Taiwanese cinema throughout its storied history and experience a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of LGBTQ subjects throughout the country’s cinema, past and present. The series, a co-presentation of The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) and sponsored by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture, will include exclusive filmmaker Q&A's, and includes films spanning from the 1970's through 2016 and will feature such key filmmaking figures in Taiwanese cinema as TsaiMing-liang, Mickey Chen, and Zero Chou.
The viewing period for all films will be from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 13, with films only available for viewing in the US. Audiences will have an opportunity to purchase Pre-Sale Series Passes through Thursday, September 3 ($12.99); Series Passes from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 13 ($14.99); and Individual Film Rentals from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 13 ($3.99).
