Flash Flood Watch Issued For Portions Of South Central Texas

Forecasters predict moderate to heavy rainfall through Thursday with the potential for flooding.

AUSTIN, TX -- The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect through this evening for portions of South Central Texas including: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Fayette, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Lavaca, Lee, Travis, and Williamson Counties.

Widespread moderate to heavy rains are expected throughout the region with another upper level disturbance appearing on doppler radar. Flooding is possible due to already saturated ground from previous heavy rainfalls that occurred last week in Austin and surrounding areas.

Rainfall amounts have already exceeded one inch as of this morning in several areas, and another 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected along the I-35 corridor with rainfall totals reaching over 3 inches for counties listed in the watch area. 100 % chance of moderate to heavy rainfall is to be expected today and tomorrow, with rain chances decreasing through week's end. Temperatures are also expected to climb from the mid to high 40's Wednesday and Thursday into the 60's by Friday and the remainder of the weekend.
