AUSTIN, TX — Founded in 1984 by artists Sylvia Orozco, Sam Coronado, and Pio Pulido, the Mexic-Arte Museum has been a bridge for sharing Mexico's rich art and culture with Texas. Since those early days, the Mexic-Arte Museum has sought to promote community involvement starting with the Day of the Dead festival in the fall of 1984. The museum's cultural programs offer a pathway to exploring the celebrations and traditions that are integral to the Mexican and Latin American cultures.

As one of only a handful of Mexican art museums in the United States, Mexic-Arte Museum works to bring more opportunities for Texans to learn about the art and culture of Mexico and Latin America through educational programming and innovative exhibitions. As part of these efforts, Mexic-Arte Museum will host its annual fundraiser, the Catrina Gala Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m.

Now in its fifth year, and previously the Gala del Museo, the Catrina Gala Dinner is a celebration of Mexico's indigenous roots and reminisces about the past, while recognizing the significance and impact visual art and culture continue to have in our society. Held at the historic Fonda San Miguel restaurant, guests will have the opportunity to meet some of Austin's greatest luminaries and enjoy an evening of art and philanthropy.
