Halloween-Themed Climbing Event Features Competitions And Prizes

AUSTIN, TX — If you're looking for a frightful fun time, you won't want to miss Crux Climbing Center's 4th Annual Crank'nstein event Saturday, Oct. 19 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Ghosts, ghouls and goblins can enjoy a full day of climbing, costumes, dancing, and plenty of good times.

Event-goers can expect a Tenaya shoe demo from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. as you compete, face painting from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and FREE tattoos from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. (first come, first serve). Choose from 1 of 5 options - those who pick the Crux C will be entered to win a year membership at Crux.

Costumes are strongly encouraged and best costumes prizes will be awarded at the end of the night. The competition format and schedule will include:

Men’s and Women’s
Beg. (vb-v1) Int. (v2-v4) Adv. (v5-v7) Open (v8+)

• 2 Sessions | 1:30P-4:30P & 6P-9P
• Check-in will start an hour before each session | 12:30P and 5P
• Rules will start 15 min prior to each session | 1:15A and 5:45P
• Dyno Comp following second session | 9 PM
• Awards at 9P and Dance Party

Red point format for your top five climbs. Climbers are given a scorecard that indicates what points each problem is worth. Climb as many problems as you wish, the top five climbs that you complete will be counted. There will be tape lines in front of problems, so competitors can line up to climb. Prize categories include 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in Novice, Intermediate, Advance and Open. 1st place in all categories gets a Crux Stein.
