Homes Tour Showcases Austin's Rich, Storied History
Preservation Austin will host its benefit 28th Annual Homes Tour and will feature a virtual showcase of unique homes and a live Q&A.

AUSTIN, TX —For 28 years, Preservation Austin has offered the community a glimpse into Austin's rich and storied architectural history, while promoting the City's diverse cultural heritage through its preservation of historic places. As a marquee event, and the non-profits most important fundraiser, the 28th Annual Homes Tour, Downtown Doorsteps, is set to go virtual this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and will spotlight some of Austin's most unique and historic living spaces including interviews with homeowners and additional footage of each featured home.
The virtual showcase is a 45-minute long video presentation that will also include a live Q&A session and will premier Thursday, August 13 beginning at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the Homes Tour, from ticket sales to sponsorships, support Preservation Austin's year-round advocacy efforts and educational programming. Ticket holders will receive digital access to eclectic updated for 21st century living spaces, including a stunning mid-century high-rise with views of the Texas Capitol, to a converted Congress Avenue storefront overlooking the Paramount Theatre.
“This incredible range of building types spans nearly a century of Austin’s history, and all provide the same thing — housing for families drawn to the dense urban environment,” said Lindsey Derrington, Preservation Austin’s executive director. “They show what an essential role our historic buildings play in shaping a vibrant, accessible downtown.” To learn more about Preservation Austin's community efforts, or to purchase tickets for this year's virtual Homes Tour, click HERE.
