I-35 Lanes To Close Near U.S. 183 For Sign Bridge Installation
Starting Thursday, northbound and southbound highway lanes will close through early Friday morning to accommodate road work.
AUSTIN, TX — Starting Thursday, the Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close northbound and southbound Interstate 35 near U.S. 183 for crews to install new overhead sign bridges, state transportation officials said.
The work is slated to begin at 11 p.m. on Thursday through 5 a.m. on Friday. The installation is centered on I-35 lanes between Braker Lane and U.S. 290 East, according to an advisory. To accommodate the project, the Braker Lane entrance ramp and U.S. 183/St. Johns Avenue exit (#240) also will be closed, officials said. Southbound I-35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at the Rundberg Lane exit (#241) and re-enter the main lanes at the Rundberg Lane entrance ramp. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m.
As a result of the road work, there will also be rolling closures on the northbound I-35 main lanes between U.S. 290 East and Rundberg Lane. State officials said the rolling closures will be short, with main lanes being reopened as work is completed. The U.S. 290 East entrance ramp and northbound I-35 to northbound U.S. 183 flyover also will be closed during the road project.
