Interstate 35 Lane Closures For Aug. 8-14, 2020

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation released its weekly list of Interstate 35 lane closures, yielding a helpful primer for motorists. By consulting the guide beforehand, drivers are able to avoid areas of potential traffic congestion.

The latest list covers the period from Aug. 8-14.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

On Sunday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., crews will close the southbound US 183 mainlanes and frontage road between I-35 and the Cameron Road entrance ramp. Traffic will detour to southbound I-35 to take US 290 East to access US 183.

Beginning on Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14, the southbound I-35 frontage road between Wonsley Drive and US 183 will temporarily close each night from 8 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Traffic will detour to Wonsley Drive and Georgian Acres to access US 183. The southbound I-35 exit for US 183/St. Johns Avenue (#240) will also be closed. Traffic should detour to the southbound I-35 RM 2222 exit (#238A) and use the US 290 East U-turn to access St. Johns Avenue.

I-35 FROM RM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from Jeffrey Way to the RM 1431 exit
  • Through early 2021

RM 620 ROUNDABOUT (I-35 TO DEEP WOOD DRIVE)

• Westbound RM 620 reduced to one lane nightly from Briarwood Street to Lake Creek Drive
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

I-35 FROM GRAND AVENUE PARKWAY TO SH 45 NORTH

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45 North
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Monday, Aug. 10 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45 North. The Louis Henna Boulevard exit (#250) and the entrance ramp north of Grand Avenue Parkway will also be closed.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45 North
  • Wednesday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LANE TO US 290 EAST

• Southbound US 183 Cameron Road exit closed
  • Through September
• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly from Norwood Park Boulevard to Fenelon Drive
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 right two lanes closed from the Rundberg Lane entrance ramp to US 183. The Rundberg Lane entrance ramp will also be closed.
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly from Blackson Avenue to Huntland Drive
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Southbound US 183 mainlanes and frontage road closed from I-35 to the Cameron Road entrance ramp
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 from 8 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.
• St. Johns Avenue closed nightly at the southbound I-35 frontage road
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Southbound US 183 frontage road closed nightly from I-35 to Blessing Avenue

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Boggy Creek Drive to Stassney Lane
  • Monday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road right turn lane closed daily at William Cannon Drive
  • Monday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Stassney Lane to the William Cannon Drive exit (#228)
  • Monday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

• Posey Road bridge closed at I-35
  • Until further notice
• Northbound I-35 Posey Road exit (#199) and Centerpoint Road exit (#200) are closed
  • Until further notice
• Southbound I-35 entrance ramp closed permanently at Centerpoint Road
  • Until further notice
• Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane at Posey Road
  • Friday, Aug.14 through Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

I-35 MAINTENANCE PROJECTS

• Northbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from Centerpoint Road to Aquarena Springs Drive. Multiple entrance and exit ramps will also be closed
  • Sunday, Aug. 9 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Southbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from Centerpoint Road to McCarty Lane
  • Monday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• Northbound I-35 McCarty Lane exit (#201) closed
  • Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
