Interstate 35 Lanes Slated To Close Near U.S. 183
The highway will close in alternating directions while crews install guard rail for the new southbound I-35 to southbound U.S. 183 flyover.
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close Interstate 35 near U.S. 183 in alternating directions Wednesday and Thursday nights while crews install guard rail for the new southbound I-35 to southbound U.S. 183 flyover, officials said.
Beginning Wednesday at 11 p.m., the northbound I-35 main lanes will close between U.S. 290 East and Rundberg Lane. The U.S. 290 East entrance ramp and northbound I-35 to northbound U.S. 183 flyover will also be closed. Northbound I-35 traffic will detour to the frontage road at the U.S. 183 exit (#239) and reenter the main lanes at the next entrance ramp just south of Rundberg Lane. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m.
On Thursday at 11 p.m., the southbound I-35 main lanes will close between Rundberg Lane and St. Johns Avenue. Traffic will detour to the southbound frontage road at the U.S. 183/St. Johns Avenue exit (#240) and reenter the main lanes at the next entrance ramp south of St. Johns Avenue. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures. The Texas Department of Transportation urged the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
