AUSTIN, TX -- The Blanton Museum of Art welcomes Joiri Minaya and her video "Labadee", which centers on Labadee, Haiti -- a private island leased to Royal Caribbean Cruise lines through the year 2050. A fascinating look at the history of Caribbean tourism and its links to colonization and a legacy of invasion, Minaya's work uncovers uncomfortable truths about exploitation and inequality. The exhibit opened Sept. 14 and is scheduled to run through Dec. 8, 2019.

The Blanton Museum of Art is located on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin and is home to more than 19,000 other works and explores art from across cultures and ages.
