Lady Bird Clean-Up Project Aims To Beautify And Unite Community
Volunteers are invited to collect trash in and around Lady Bird Lake and build community with a focus on environmental awareness.
AUSTIN, TX — Ranked as one of the country's greenest cities, Austin leads the way among major metropolitan areas by virtue of its environmental initiatives. In an effort to continue on the path of keeping Austin beautiful, TOGO, a reusable container network that eliminates single-use container waste one city at a time, will host the Lady Bird Clean-Up Project to help clean up garbage along Lady Bird Lake. The goal of the project is to unite the Austin community to carry out activities that focus on environmental issues beginning with Lady Bird Lake.
Each week, volunteers will gather at different points along Lady Bird Lake and collect trash from the lake itself. Participants are asked to bring a mode of water transportation such as a kayak, canoe, paddle board, etc., and gather trash to be disposed of properly. Volunteers are asked to bring a net with a long handle (optional), gloves, face-mask, several trash bags (biodegradable, if possible). For more information, including link to register click HERE.
