AUSTIN, TX —The St. Edward's University Center for Ethics and Leadership will host Jose Antonio Vargas, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Emmy-nominated filmmaker and Tony-nominated producer, as he discusses the immigrant experience and human rights.

In addition to his writing, Vargas is also the founder of the non-profit media and culture organization Define American.

Vargas's best-selling memoir, Dear America: Notes of An Undocumented Citizen, focuses on the issue of immigration from personal and political perspectives. His book explores his journey into the U.S. at twelve years old, and discusses his struggles adapting to American culture and his desires to fully embrace everything his new home offers to him. His personal narrative is countered with a look at the history of our country's immigration policies and delves into the issues facing immigrants today.
