Police responded to reports of shots being fired along the 6000 block of Manor Road where they found a man in his 50s mortally wounded.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A man was found mortally wounded in East Austin on Tuesday evening, police said.

Officers responded to a shots fired call along the 6000 block of Manor Road just before 8 p.m. where they found a man in his 50s on the ground, a police spokesman told reporters in a subsequent news conference. The shooting victim died at the scene despite life-saving measures by medics, the officer said. He was not identified pending notification to family members.

The police spokesman said the incident was isolated, meaning there was no immediate threat to the public. The shooting suspect is unknown, the spokesperson said. In a subsequent advisory released Wednesday, police said this was the sixth homicide of the year in Austin.
