Man Shot Dead During South Austin Drug Deal
Two brothers arrived at a South Austin home late Monday to buy pot before shots rang out, leaving Travis Springer, 30, mortally wounded.
AUSTIN, TX — A man was fatally shot overnight during a drug deal gone bad in South Austin early Monday, police said.
The incident occurred at 5000 Brighton Rd. just after 10 p.m., according to a police advisory. A caller alerted police he had taken his brother to a residence to buy marijuana when shots rang out from inside the home, police said. The caller told police he left the scene before checking up on his brother who was found unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds.
The residents of the home initially fled the scene before returning, according to police. One of those residents told police he had shot the victim, police said, prompting police to detain the person and others at the scene.

The man who was shot was identified as 30-year-old Travis Springer, who police said died despite medics' administering of life-saving measures.
