Meet Editorial Intern: Jillian Price
New Editorial Intern introduces herself and wants to learn more about the Austin community.

AUSTIN, TX — Hi, Austin! I’m Jillian Price, editorial intern at Patch. I’m a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, studying journalism.
A little about me: I was born in Dallas, TX, but grew up in Atlanta, GA. For some reason, I haven’t been able to stay away from Texas, as I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism from Baylor University. After attending Baylor, I went straight to UT Austin, in the middle of the pandemic! Some may call this crazy, but it was the best decision for me.
When I first began studying journalism, I learned a lot about writing structure. Also, what makes a great story and the most important part: reporting the truth.

As I have continued to study and practice journalism, I’ve learned that it’s way more than just writing the story. It’s what story you are telling.
Journalism means being a voice for the voiceless. It means telling the stories of people in communities who have not been heard.

This is what I strive to do in my reporting and writing. This is what I will strive to do while I’m at Patch.
When I’m not writing or in class, I love reading books, listening to music, and taking walks around town.
I’d love to connect more with the community, so please email me at jillian.price@patch.com.
