Missing Your Pet After 4th Of July? Animal Shelter May Have It.
Many animals spooked by fireworks were taken in by shelters, including nearly 100 at Austin Animal Shelter.

AUSTIN, TX — Are you missing your beloved pet after this weekend's fireworks? You might want to check area animal shelters that saw a spike in intakes this weekend attributed to pets running away after being spooked by fireworks.
At the Austin Animal Center alone, 53 stray pets came in Friday morning during the first three hours of the site's operation, as KXAN reported. By the end of the day, 98 animals were brought in by animal control workers, the news station reported.
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter also has seen in intake increase. Officials there urge residents looking for lost pets to download and post on the Finding Rover app which utilizes facial recognition technology to help reunite people with their lost pets.

Scanning the app, one finds a number of animals either lost or found, some pre-dating the 4th of July holiday period. One such creature is an Australian cattle dog found in the Austin area in May still hoping to be reunited with its owner. The young female has an ID of A794232.
