More Offices, Condos Coming to Downtown

Developers are after any free spaces in downtown Austin.

Waller Park Place is going to break ground on a mixed-media project at the corner of Cesar Chavez and Red River on Waller Creek in downtown next year.

The project includes residential condominiums, a hotel and retail spaces. Sutton Co. partnered with McCourt Global, a New York development company, to created on of Downtown Austin’s largest mixed-use projects. According to Bis Now, it will be built in two phases. The site development for the first phase is ready, and demolition is set to begin after Jan. 1 with a target opening date in early 2019. 

The project is on two sites, one being 3.26 acres and the other at 1.5 acres.

The company is also developing the remaining blocks of the Market District. The newest additions include Shoal Creek Walk and a tower 405 N. Lamar. The developers are also looking to improve the wall along the hike and bike trail that connects the building to Lady Bird Lake. The new tower will be enhance access to the lake and hike and bike trail.
