No Texas Football? 5 Things To Do In Austin This Weekend
The Longhorns get a break this weekend — and you should too.

The Texas Longhorns will get a little rest this weekend, with no game until Thursday’s visit from Texas Tech.
Maybe this upsets you because there’s no football on. Maybe this makes you happy that you don’t have to watch them slog through another Big 12 game during a disappointing season.
Either way, it’s one less thing to worry about this weekend. Here are five things to do around Austin instead.

Take a hike
The weather will be spotty Saturday morning, but clear skies are expected through the rest of the weekend. Why not try and get out one more time before winter sets in?

(It will eventually get cold... right?)
Try Mount Bonnell at Covert Park, a free, easy hike that offers great views of the city at the top.
Go see a show
There are plenty of shows to go to in Austin this weekend.
David Cook, Easton Corbin and Steve-O (yes, that Steve-O) are all in town this weekend.
See where your drinks come from
Distillery and brewery tours can be a fun and informative outing (and another excuse to have a drink or two).
The Deep Eddy distillery tour picks you up from the downtown Marriott and comes with a cocktail. Or, tour any one of the cities breweries. Click here for more information.
(And be sure to bring along a designated driver.)
Imagination Playground
Every Saturday morning from 9 to 1, the Austin Parks Foundation in Republic Square hosts Imagination Playground,“ an adaptable playscape designed to encourage unstructured free play,” according to its website.
It’s like a normal playground, but one that inspires problem-solving and creativity (and could have the kids worn out by the middle of the day).
Food tour
There’s a lot out of good food out there that you may not know about.
Austin eats organizes several food tours in Austin like “Brunch, BBQ & Brewery” or a food truck tour. Check out their website for more information.
And enjoy not having to worry about losing for a week.
