AUSTIN, TX — Stephen MacMillan Moser, a former society columnist and fashion designer who achieved a high profile as a public figure, has died at 61, according to a published report.

Moser succumbed to cancer after a terminal diagnosis in 2007, his mother told the Austin American-Statesman. The Statesman noted that even as a denizen of a city abounding with eccentric figures, Moser stood out — a profile elevated by a rich and active social life. The newspaper noted Moser's penchant for dramatic entrances, arriving to lavish parties while invariably clothed in garments of exotic fabric accented with elaborate accessories.

Moser was the brother of music journalist Margaret Moser, who died in 2017 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.
